We phoned up Jordan Corso of Cotillion to discuss his SXSW tour, recordings and plans for Australia.
Jordan - I had the shower on when you called, so I was about to get in and get out of here. I'm married to you guys for the next seven to eight minutes now.
JC - What are you going to do when the next eight minutes are over?
Jordan - I'm going to get painted.
JC - Painted? What for?
Jordan - I don't know the whole creative direction, but a friend in town has invited me over.
JC - At midnight?
Jordan - Yeah, I imagine I'll have to stop and get a bottle of wine, or two bottles.
JC - Where are you now?
Jordan - I'm in LA right now.
JC - What are you doing in LA?
Jordan - I'm rehearsing with a band for SXSW.
JC - Is this band Cotillion?
Jordan - Yeah it's all the guys. Kevin, Brett, and Christian. Adrian's missing in action. He's not allowed to talk to us. There were rules his girlfriend gave him - never talk to Jordan or Kevin again.
JC - Ah, so you're in LA with Cotillion and they're your band members?
Jordan - Yeah that's it. I have a Cotillion cast in LA and in New York. Different guys again for each. I’ve got another band in Australia too, I’m pretty sure.
JC - Who are your Aussie band mates?
Jordan - Big White, I think. They played as my band one night in New York. We rehearsed for a week beforehand, I think. Jack was on drums, Cody was on bass, Nick was on guitar.
JC - Oh, true... I didn't know that was how you knew them.
Jordan - Now you know.
JC - So the song 'Alex's Room' came out today. How long since you recorded that?
Jordan - Oh god… Ah yeah, that song was recorded two summers ago when I moved to New York. I was still with Alex.
JC - And you're releasing it now?
Jordan - It takes that long to record, mix, overdub and go through the whole process... and then there's figuring out how to release it. It's everyone biggest issue. Being a musician is being held hostage by everyone else.
JC - So Cotillion are off to SXSW. What’s happening with and after that?
Jordan - There's a Modern Sky showcase this year that I curated with Chastity Belt (your pals), The Mystery Lights, The Murlocs, Calvin Love, myself and Bryan Bell from Weezer who’s just started a new band. Later, I’ll be touring the West Coast with Bryan Bell. The tour finishes in Seattle and then I’m going to South East Asia. I’ll be pretty close to you guys from there.
JC - Then you’re coming here to Australia?
Jordan - Yeah, that’s gotta be be worked out pretty quickly but it’s the plan. The Japan tour finishes on May 11, so by the middle of May, I could be in Australia.
JC - Hopefully we can gee that up and see you in Sydney!
